Shahdad Azmoon, MD

 

 

 

Dr. Azmoon was born in Tehran in 1975 and shortly thereafter left Tehran for the United States at the age of 5.  He received his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine in Pennsylvania and moved to California for completion of his Internal Medicine Residency Training at UCLA-WLA.  Dr. Azmoon's interests in cardiac imaging led him to a Cardiac Imaging Fellowship with focus on 64 slice cardiac CT Angiography where he leads in late breaking research using state of the art imaging modalities in the prevention and care of heart attacks as well as other heart diseases.  He is currently completing his training in the field of cardiology and interventional cardiology as a "heart attack" specialist.  He has had multiple publications and presentations at scientific sessions such as Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association, Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography, Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics, American College of Physicians as well as others.  His research has been collaborated with multiple institutions where he has also been recipient of research awards. When not working on research Dr. Azmoon is helping care for patients as well as teaching medical students and residents alike as faculty physician at various academic hospitals and institutions.

           Dr. Azmoon’s joy for the care of patient’s health and implementing healthier lifestyles is not limited to hospitals and has reached international recognition.  Dr. Azmoon has a long history of medical volunteer work outside of the United States, including Latin America. Since his graduation from medical school in Pennsylvania, Dr. Azmoon has directed and produced a sponsored, weekly television segment titled “Chekoneem, Sokhanee Ba Pezeshk” with an estimated 3 million plus international audience rating.  Despite leaving his native country at an early elementary age Dr. Azmoon continuously strives to maintain his heritage through Farsi related extracurricular activities.  He has been a guest speaker on the Farsi Radio, KIRN on multiple occasions. His last interview included discussions on the health impacts of obesity in adolescence.  As Dr. Azmoon states, “I look forward to helping people in a way in which I feel I can best contribute to the happiness and health of mankind, as a physician.”
